“Earlier this year I found a stack of test prints in my closet. It was scrap paper leftover from the production of It Was Absolutely Worth It, the photobook I made during my last days in San Francisco.
I always love to use what I have lying around, so using this found material as a starting point, I layered new pictures on top of old. First impressions of my experience moving back to my hometown of LA were put on top of where other pictures had been. I became fascinated with their interactions, echos and the organized mess of it all.
Each print became a spontaneous, improvisational, chance encounter. Occasionally, I would add a piece of text: lyrics from songs, unused book titles, snippets of to-do lists or inside jokes about my inability to let anything go.
Beginnings, endings, beginnings again, etc. You get the idea.
